ABOUT LAURYN STANLAKE
I always wanted to work with children - this is what led me to become an internationally certified infant and child sleep consultant.
Coming out of high school I knew that I wanted to be a teacher but due to family pressure to go into business I ended up studying a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) double degree at The University of Western Australia. During this time I took a year off to travel around the world. Upon completing my double degree I earned a scholarship and went on to study a postgraduate degree in Primary Education at Edith Cowan University. This is where I really found myself - I was surrounded by children each day in the classroom and was extremely happy. I was passionate and excited about coming to work each day.
My husband Troy and I then decided to start a family. It was after the birth of my first child that I began to understand the struggles that motherhood brings. Living in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia with no family support I really battled with my son's sleep and after months of sleep deprivation developed post natal depression. I decided that enough was enough and with help and a lot of support from a sleep consultant and medical professionals I started to embrace life and enjoy my son again. I found out that motherhood did not have to be a struggle every single day - I was getting sleep and therefore had the energy to do things that I wasn't doing previously. I got back into running, which contributed significantly to regaining my mental health and because my son was sleeping in the day, in his own bed, I had time for myself.
I found that I had learnt so much and I was passing on my knowledge to family and friends who had babies and young children. I loved making such an amazing, positive impact on other family's lives so I decided to start formally training to become a sleep consultant. I loved the course - I had forgotten how good it was to use my brain in an educational capacity again and I loved learning! If only I had known what I know now before I had kids! At the end of 2018 I completed my training to become a certified sleep consultant through Baby Sleep Consultants Ltd. While I was studying, I developed a keen awareness and intuition that enabled me to become adept at helping parents meet their child's needs.
Sleepy Tots was launched in 2018 while I was studying and working with volunteer clients. I later changed the name to Lauryn Stanlake Sleep Consultant. I had a new passion and drive - to help families get the sleep they needed. If babies and toddlers were sleeping well then mum and dad were also sleeping well, leading to a much happier family. I really want to give parents back some time to themselves that is so needed and I also strongly believe that babies and children need to be well rested in order to function properly. Sleep is like food - it is something that needs to be respected. I want to support babies, toddlers and parents to get the rest that they need.
I am now loving being a sleep coach - it has become my something very close to my heart.
I know - Because I have been there.
I understand how critical sleep is to our quality of life and to our ability to be the parents we desire to be. I know I can give hope to exhausted, desperate parents, and help them and their little ones finally get the sleep they need and live the life they so deserve to live. I do this through unique, tailor-made sleep solution packages.
Would you like me to help you get the sleep that you and your baby or toddler need?
